Arkansas State Troopers are still on the scene of a fiery collision in east Little Rock that has claimed the life of at least one person.

At approximately 1:55 PM today (Wednesday, March 19th) State Troopers were dispatched to a collision in the eastbound lanes of I-440 near Fouche Dam Pike.

Based on initial information gathered by State Troopers investigating the crash scene, the driver of a car had attempted to back the vehicle in a westerly direction along the eastbound lane of I-440 when it was struck from the rear by a commercial carrier truck which jackknifed on impact.  The first large truck was then struck by a second commercial carrier truck.  The wreckage was engulfed in flames as Troopers arrived.

One fatality has been confirmed and two individuals have been transported from the scene.  The condition of the injured is unknown.

Eastbound traffic on I-440 from I-30 and I-530 is being diverted through downtown Little Rock along I-30.

Westbound traffic along I-440 is moving slowly through the area and at one westbound lane is closed for use by emergency vehicles.

It is unknown when traffic will be allowed to re-enter the eastbound lanes of I-440 near Fouche Dam Pike.
