COMMANDERS PROMOTED IN THREE STATE POLICE TROOPS

(LITTLE ROCK) – The Arkansas State Police Commission has approved the recommendations of Colonel Stan Witt, Director of the State Police, to promote three Highway Patrol Division lieutenants to the rank of captain. The new captains were promoted to fill vacant troop commander positions in Pine Bluff, Jonesboro and Newport. The promotions were considered by the commissioners today during a regularly scheduled meeting at the department’s Little Rock administrative headquarters. Captain Leonard Hogg, 57, of Star City, a 33 year veteran of the department, who most recently was assigned as assistant Troop E commander will assume new duties in Pine Bluff as Troop E commander. Captain Jim Howington, 57, of Bryant, a 26 year veteran of the department, who most recently was assigned as assistant Troop B commander in Newport, will assume new duties in Jonesboro as Troop C commander. Captain Jeffrey Drew, 42, of Bentonville, a 16 year veteran of the department, who most recently was assigned as assistant Troop L commander in Springdale, will assume new duties in Newport as Troop B commander.
