(LITTLE ROCK) - The Arkansas State Police Commission approved the recommendations of Colonel JR Howard, Director of the State Police, to promote three State Troopers today. The promotions were considered by the commission during a regularly scheduled meeting at the department’s Little Rock headquarters.
Captain Stan Witt, 55, of Austin (Lonoke County), was promoted to the rank of major and will be assigned as commander of the department’s Administrative Services Division.
Major Witt, a twenty-six year department veteran, has most recently served in an acting division commander capacity within Administrative Services, which comprises the department’s recruiting and training sections, human resources operations and other personnel support type services for the 928 State Police employees.
Lieutenant Lindsey Williams, 54, of Searcy, was promoted to the rank of captain and will be assigned as commander of the department’s Regulatory & Building Services Division.
Captain Williams, a twenty-seven year State Police veteran, currently serves as the State Fire Marshall. In addition, he has also served in an acting division commander capacity supervising the department’s regulatory and licensing services as well as headquarters building operations.
Corporal Doug Thomas, 49, of Jonesboro, was promoted to the rank of sergeant and will be assigned Highway Patrol post supervisor duties in Troop C headquartered at Jonesboro.
Sergeant Thomas is a twenty-three year veteran of the department.
