STATE TROOPERS SECURE KIDNAPPED CHILD
DURING WEST MEMPHIS TRAFFIC STOP
Arkansas State Troopers have secured a two-year girl believed to have been kidnapped earlier today from Sandy Springs, Georgia.
A 30 year old suspect in the kidnapping was also taken into custody during a traffic stop along an Interstate 40 service road in West Memphis.
Arkansas State Troopers received a law enforcement bulletin earlier in the afternoon from Georgia authorities who believed the suspect may be traveling through Arkansas with the child inside a 2006 Range Rover.
State Police Sergeant David Moore and Corporal Lowry Astin moved highway patrol troopers into the West Memphis area to be on the lookout for the suspect vehicle.
At approximately 3:25 PM Corporal Flarcell Tate spotted the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop in the vicinity of the West Memphis dog racing track. The child was turned-over by State Police to the Arkansas Department of Human Services and Georgia law enforcement authorities were notified of the suspect being held by State Troopers.
